How their mechanisms differ
Sermorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone fragment. Ipamorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue studied through a different receptor pathway. Similar downstream changes do not make the molecules equivalent or predict the same outcomes.
Human evidence answers different questions
Sermorelin research cited here concerns growth hormone-deficient children. The ipamorelin trial concerns bowel recovery after surgery. Neither study is a head-to-head test of these compounds for adult body composition. A favorable finding in one population cannot fill a gap in a different one.
Does selective mean safer?
Ipamorelin is often described as selective based on its early pharmacology experiments. That is a description of measured responses under particular experimental conditions. It should not be translated into a promise of no hormonal effects, no side effects or greater safety for long-term use.
