Why it is measured
An IGF-1 blood test can help clinicians evaluate the growth hormone axis. Interpretation depends on the laboratory method, reference range and patient context. The number is not a standalone score for recovery, fitness or healthy aging.

Example: checking a laboratory report
Compare the result with the age-appropriate range printed by the testing laboratory, not a target posted on a forum. Two reports can use different assays or reference intervals. A change after an intervention is an observation; attributing it to the intervention requires consideration of other explanations.
Biomarker versus outcome
A trial that raises IGF-1 establishes an endocrine effect under the conditions tested. It does not automatically show stronger muscles, improved sleep or a favorable long-term benefit-risk balance. Those claims need studies that actually assess the relevant outcomes.
