Definition
The preparation of a solution or suspension from a dry product using a specified diluent. In medicines, the product instructions determine compatibility and handling.

Reconstitution is not sterilization
Dissolving a powder does not establish that it is suitable for administration. The identity, formulation and microbial quality of the original product still matter. Instructions for a licensed medicine cannot be transferred automatically to an unverified research material.

A concentration example
For laboratory arithmetic only, 6 mg distributed in a final solution volume of 3 mL gives 2 mg/mL. Final volume is the quantity in the denominator. This calculation does not determine whether a particular solvent is compatible or whether the material is appropriate for human use.
Product instructions remain specific
The cited diluent label directs users to the drug manufacturer’s instructions and restricts storage of reconstituted solutions unless specified. Mixing, storage and expiry depend on the product. A unit converter solves units; it does not validate sterility, stability or a medical regimen.
