MOTS-c

Where to Inject MOTS-c

MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide studied for metabolic regulation and exercise mimetic effects. It is administered subcutaneously with standard technique.

Recommended Injection Sites

Abdomen

Primary

Standard SubQ site for MOTS-c.

Angle90°
Depth8-12mm
TipStandard abdominal SubQ technique.

Outer Thigh

Secondary

Alternative rotation site.

Angle45-90°
Depth8-12mm
TipSeated self-injection in outer thigh.

Injection Technique

Subcutaneous (SubQ)Needle: 29-31G gauge, 8mm (5/16")
1

Wash Hands

Wash hands with soap and water for 20+ seconds. Dry with a clean towel.

2

Prepare the Dose

Wipe the vial stopper with alcohol. Draw the calculated dose into an insulin syringe. Remove air bubbles.

3

Clean the Site

Swab the injection site with alcohol in a circular motion. Allow to air dry for 30 seconds.

4

Pinch and Insert

Pinch a fold of skin at the injection site. Insert the needle at 90 degrees with a quick, smooth motion.

5

Inject Slowly

Push the plunger slowly over 5-10 seconds. Wait 5 seconds, then withdraw. Apply gentle pressure.

6

Dispose Safely

Place the syringe directly into a sharps container. Return the vial to the refrigerator.

Timing & Frequency

Timing

Typically administered in the morning, often on exercise days.

Frequency

3-5 times per week in most protocols.

Site Rotation

Standard rotation between abdomen and thigh sites.

Local vs Systemic Effects

MOTS-c is systemic. It acts on AMPK signaling and mitochondrial function throughout the body. Injection site does not affect outcomes.

Warnings & Precautions

  • !MOTS-c is a research peptide, not FDA-approved.
  • !Limited human data available.
  • !May affect blood glucose levels—monitor if diabetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does MOTS-c need to be injected near muscles for exercise benefits?

No. MOTS-c acts systemically through AMPK signaling. Its exercise-mimetic effects occur regardless of injection site. Standard abdominal SubQ is appropriate.
